Introduction
This page is meant to be a practical guideline for food businesses in the chicken industry preparing themselves for implementation of traceability oriented practice in their own company. Recommendations given are based on principles and requirements set in the TraceFood standards.
Sector chain model
A preliminary chain model of the chicken sector chain:
Good Practice
- Product information from suppliers: Information about the chicken received, should be keyed to internal production batch numbers.
- Batch size: The typical production batch in chicken production should be one day of production of a defined product.
- Product information to customers: Provide information about the chicken to customer keyed to lot number on product.
